Adhémar de Massaut builds a castle in the XVTh century, on the ruins of a house. The building is named Château Lagrézette because of its location, upstream of the Lot. Château Lagrézette experienced a difficult period from the 1930s on. In 1979, the vineyard was coveted by Alain Dominique Perrin. He purchased the estate in 1980.
Alain-Dominique Perrin left nothing to chance to make Château Lagrézette one of the paragons of the Cahors appellation.
The vineyard of the Chateau Lagrézette consists of 3 distinct terroirs. The Terraces of the Lot are planted at 85% Malbec, 13% Merlot and 2% Tannat on clay-limestone soil. Only planted in Malbec, the property has 20 hectares in deep clay-limestone soil. North of Cahors, the Rocamadour terroir offers an clay-limestone terroir with a variety of white and red grapes.
The wines come from ripe grapes, which undergo extensive extractions and very luxurious breeding: a classic style that has its aficionados.
The prestigious Dame Honor cuvée is a tribute to Marguerite de Massaut, the first woman owner of the Château Lagrézette, in the 16th century, when the Cahors was on all royal tables.
