The flagship reference of the Arran distillery launched in 2006, the reputation of the 10 year old is well established.
Resulting from the blend of bourbon casks and hogsheads sherry casks of 1st filling, this single malt perfectly expresses the floral, spicy and fruity character typical of the distillery.Non-chill filtered and without coloring, it is a single elegant tasting malt.
An essential, from one of the few Scottish distilleries to have remained independent, with a unique character like the wild Isle of Arran.
Style: Elegant and fresh.
Nose: Pear, vanilla, notes of coconut.
Palate: Frank. Ripe fruit, dried fruit and oak.
Final: Citrus notes. Herbaceous and fruity.

After 150 years of forced abstinence, the inhabitants of the Isle of Arran
welcome the creation of "Isle of Arran Distillery" in 1993, the first since 1837! Officially opened in 1995, it chose to settle in the north of the island near the market town of Lochranza in a small valley called "Glen Eason Biorach" or "valley of the small waterfall".
Arran has a long history in the whiskey world. By the mid-18th century there were nearly fifty distilleries on the island (most of them underground), but they have all since closed. The creation of the new distillery in 1995 therefore renews the tradition in Arran. The brandy produced there received the designation "whiskey" in 1998.
This strategic choice is explained by an idyllic natural environment, (a concentrate of all the landscapes of Scotland) a warm microclimate (near the gulf stream) ideal for the rapid maturation of single malts and finally by the contribution of water from Loch Na Davie which descends from the surrounding mountains, purified by granite and softened by peat.
Proud of its independence, because it was founded thanks to the contribution of passionate subscribers and paid in kind on the production to come, it has taken up the challenge by creating a very successful range of whiskey expressions thus nailing the beak to the "old" were waiting for him at the turn.
Under the leadership of the master distiller Gordon Mitchell, replaced in 2007 by James MacTaggart, the "newbies" have proven themselves by playing on a wide variety of finishing barrels: calvados, champagne, margaux, port, sauternes, marsala, cognac, rum… If 90% of its malted barley comes from old varieties cultivated in Bairds (on the Black Island), the remaining 10%, delicately peated (20ppm) are dedicated to “Machrie Moor” the peated single malt whiskey from Arran released in 2009.
In this vast range, Le Monde du Whiskey recommends the essential Arran10 years with its finish in sherry casks. This single malt won the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition gold medal. -
