Produced by R. L. Seale & Company, Doorly's rums express the exoticism of Barbados and its tropical forests. In the same family as Foursquare (vintage single casks) and R. L. Seale's (very old rums), the quality of Doorly's rums bears witness to almost 100 years of expertise in the art of selecting and blending old spirits. Once supported by other distilleries, including the West Indies Rum Refinery, the R. L. Seale Company has become entirely self-sufficient with the construction of its own distillery, and the installation of ultra-modern stills.
The Doorly's 5 year old rum is the flagship of the Foursquare distillery, aged in bourbon casks and then matured for several months in Oloroso jerez casks. It is not to be missed by whisky or cognac lovers.
Tasting notes :
Colour: golden, slightly amber.
Nose: the nose of this rum presents subtle notes of vanilla melted in an almost imperceptible woody note. Fine and elegant, marked by nuts, acacia honey and mango.
Palate: with good depth, sweetness and subtlety, with vanilla, banana, sultana and sherry. Roundness and pleasant structure.
Finish: delicate tropical notes, reminiscent of its origins.

The Foursquare distillery is quite new. It was founded in 1996 by Richard L. Seale, on the site of an old sugar factory in Barbados.
The Foursquare distillery in St. Philip, one of the best and most modern distilleries in the Caribbean, produces rums with stills that operate under vacuum, which reduces the temperature required to boil the rum, thus avoiding the loss of subtle natural flavours.
Foursquare has also been designed to be energy efficient and has the most advanced recycling and waste disposal system on the island.
Foursquare rums are traditional rums, made from molasses, using original processes. They undergo a long fermentation process before being distilled. To do this, Foursquare has 2 stills. A three-column still, used for light rums, and a second, Charentais-type still, reserved for the stronger rums. They are then aged for 2 years in oak barrels with spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, and are bottled without the addition of sugar or colouring.
Foursquare Rum Distillery, which produces Doorly's, Sixty Six, R.L. Seale's and Foursquare rums, makes a point of working to produce its rums with great respect for nature.
