The other vintages of:
Jean-Baptiste Granier, a young agricultural engineer, started the Vignes Oubliées project with Olivier Jullien.
With a father, an uncle and a grandfather in the wine business (Mas Montel near Sommières), Jean-Baptiste could have wanted to turn his back on this world. On the contrary. "My father Jean-Philippe passed on his passion to me. I was just wondering where I could settle down".
It was not easy to find a place to settle in the area and Jean-Baptiste solved the problem by setting up his cellar and his breeding cellar in the middle of nature in an unusual place. At the end of a small chaotic path, a solid gate protects... a cave! "It used to house an olive oil press. The humidity level is excellent and it is 12°C all year round". Under a rocky dome carved by erosion, the pyramid of barrels climbs to the ceiling.
The initial approach was as singular as it was meritorious: it was born of the desire to preserve old plots of land in the commune of Saint-Privat (a part of the world like the Languedoc has so many) condemned by the economic logic of the cooperative, now cultivated in partnership with their owners.
The wines (Terrasses-du-larzac AOP) have asserted themselves, since the beginning in 2007, as neat and expressive wines, faithful messengers of the terroir. In a dapper, easy-to-digest style, the cuvée declared in the Languedoc is a pure delight. Based on clairette, the white is skilfully framed by the wood ageing. In this very dynamic area, this estate is constantly progressing.
