Madeira (in Portuguese Madeira) is located in the Atlantic Ocean off Morocco. This volcanic archipelago benefits from a temperate oceanic climate which allows the elaboration of great wines to this day still confidential in France, which makes them all the more seductive for amateurs.

The Maison Henriques & Henriques has been producing and exporting Madeira wines since 1850. It now owns the largest vineyard on the island. Its founder Jao Gonçalves Henriques is the descendant of a family established in Camara de Lobos. After his death in 1912, a partnership was created between his two sons, hence the name Maison Henriques & Henriques.
In 1992 the company invested in new facilities including a winery located in Camara de Lobos and a winemaking center in Quinta Grande in order to meet current market demands.

Among the many grape varieties, the Madeira vineyard has four noble grape varieties: sercial, verdelho, boal and malvasia. These different grape varieties give birth to wines, bearing the name of the grape variety, with completely different styles ranging from dry to sweet wine. Recently, the house has restored the terrantez grape variety decimated by Phylloxera. In addition, the return to the tinta negra mole grape variety, introduced on the island in the 18th century, represents 80-85% of production. It gives Madeira wines the characteristic and natural acidity of the island's volcanic soils.

The famous Henriques & Henriques estate (seven estates only on the island) has the particularity of having 11 hectares (only) in ownership in order to better control the incoming quality.
Last peculiarity, it has an in-house cooperage where they restore their old barrels themselves, make new ones and all this in an ancestral way; by integrating banana leaves between each stave (another great asset of the island).

Henriques & Henriques is the largest independent producer and shipper in Madeira and the only producer in Madeira to own vineyards.
