After more than 265 years of activity, the Hampden Estate distillery is finally launching official bottlings on the world stage! This Hampden is a worthy heir to Jamaican Stinking Rums (ultra full bodied).
This 8-year-old, aged entirely in the tropics in the Hampden cellars, was distilled in a double-twisted copper pot still after a very long fermentation carried out using natural yeasts.
Tasty blend of ripe fruit, spices and phenolic notes. Banana, ripe mango, candied orange and wax. The finish is fine and pastry, it sails between prune and almond. Superb palette!
Affirming an authentic character, it is the proud representative of Pure Single Jamaican Rums. It is perfect for discovering the unique style of this distillery.

After 265 years of production dedicated to confidential bottlings, the Hampden distillery is launching its own aged rums in 2018.
It is, among others, the famous Luca Gargano who, over the last few years, has brought to light the productions of this Jamaican distillery, through his brand: Habitation Velier.
Hampden's Jamaican rums are distinguished by an ancestral manufacturing process and a complete maturation in the tropics.
The Hampden distillery is equipped with four double-twisted pot stills: the first (John Dore), with a capacity of 7,560 litres, was installed in 1960; the second (Vendôme), with a capacity of 18,900 litres, in 1994; the third (Forsyth), with a capacity of 18,900 litres, in 2010 and the last (TNT), also with a capacity of 18,900 litres, in 2016.
The slow distillations, which last around seven hours, produce a rich and powerful new make that comes out of the still at 82%.
Throughout the production of its rum, Hampden uses spring water from the Cockpit Valley. It is rich in microbiological flora and plays a major role in the fermentation process. Hampden does not add any yeast during the fermentation process, which takes place naturally over seven days in open wooden vats.
Since its creation, Hampden has chosen to use pot still distillation. Its rum is therefore part of the very closed circle of Pure Single Rums. The four pot stills allow them to produce both Heavy Rum, very rich in esters, and Light Rum.
