Champagne Adrien Renoir
Le Terroir - Extra-Brut
(Base 2021)
Champagne Grand cru AOC
France - Champagne
Cuvée which combines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Grand Cru de Verzy classified terroir, on the Montagne de Reims.
The base wines are vinified in stainless steel vats (80%) and in oak barrels (20%), while the reserve wines, which represent 20% of the blend, are aged in casks.
The blend is based on a majority of wines from the 2017 harvest. It is completely made from reserve wines which perpetuate the identity of the estate.
These wines are aged under lees. After 3 years in the cellars of the house, the wines are disgorged and dosed in Extra Brut.
Grape varieties:
50% pinot noir, 50% chardonnay
Tasting Notes:
This wine has a light yellow color with slightly golden reflections. It is a champagne with very nice fine and light bubbles. On the nose, it is very fresh and very airy, with fruity and floral aromas, such as acacia, honey, and crunchy white fruit. On the second nose, more powerful and winey notes emerge. The attack on the palate is very pleasant, it is fresh and lively, but nonetheless smooth and greedy with brioche and toasted aromas punctuated by very fresh citrus aromas such as lemon and grapefruit. It is a very pleasant and balanced champagne, with its freshness and its deliciousness.

The other vintages of:
Adrien Renoir is one of the most promising young winegrowers in Champagne. He develops cuvées focused on purity and tension.
Located in Verzy, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, the Renoir estate has been making champagnes for 4 generations. Passed down from father to son, the house is recognized for the high quality of its wines. The vineyard is located mainly in the commune of Verzy, one of the 17 villages classified as Grand Cru. The harvest is carried out by hand in order to follow the maturity of each plot and to guarantee high quality. The grapes are then pressed directly at the estate and the juices vinified in stainless steel vats. The wines are then aged in the cellar for several years before being marketed.
In 2015, Adrien joined the estate and decided to launch his own brand, Champagne Adrien Renoir.
He began to experiment with organic and biodynamic viticulture and officially launched into conversion in 2017.
The stainless steel vats are now replaced by oak barrels in which fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Aging on lees for 11 months is then carried out, limiting interventions as much as possible (without fining or filtration).
