The other vintages of:
Created in 1845 by a young Danish man who fell in love with Portugal and Port wines, the JH Andresen House has been able to maintain its family independence since its family independence, to the point of being one of the last of its kind in Vila Nova da Gaïa, the capital of port. Arriving from Germany without a penny in his pocket, the young Andresen was hired in a trading house, and succeeded brilliantly, showing honesty and commercial acumen. In 1845, he created his own trading house, married a Portuguese woman and even got naturalized.
The heirs and successors of Jao Enrique Andresen have kept his methods, based on a demanding selection of grapes, the art of blending (an authentic family secret) and the best storage conditions.
All vintage Andresen Ports, whether LBV, Vintage or Colheita, are made using the traditional method in lagares, large vats in which the grapes are trodden with their feet. But it's only after a year and a half for the Vintages, and three to four years for the Colheitas, that we can get a clear picture. It is especially during the assembly that the most important difference is made between Ruby, Vintage, LBV (reductive aging in bottle, unfiltered to remain voluptuous), and Tawny Colheita, (oxidative aging in barrels to bring l 'balanced). The vintage is only declared if the producers are fully convinced that the quality corresponds to that imposed for generations.
And this is how the founder's ambition was born: to age a Tawny for a hundred years in casks.
The Andresen house is very famous for its Vintages and Colheitas. Although very attached to its traditions, it also knows how to innovate, it is absolutely necessary to look at their 10 year or 20 year vintage white Port.
