The La Prevostura estate is located in the heart of the Lessona appellation, in Haut-Piemont and was founded by Marco Bellini. Luca de Marchi (Proprietà Sperino) has recently taken over this renowned (and also historic) estate.
On one of the best exposed hills of this renowned terroir, the vineyards of this estate once produced some of the finest wines in northern Italy.
The estate's vines extend over the DOC appellations Lessona and Coste della Sesia and the grape varieties cultivated are Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina, all of which are indigenous to the region. Lessona's climate is moderated by cool air from the mountains as well as warm air from the surrounding plains.
The soils of marine sands, rich in limestone minerals, of this rapidly reviving appellation are among the highest quality in northern Italy. The vines take root in the depths of these terroirs, which gives the wines of this region an extraordinary freshness and elegance.
Following the principles of sustainable agriculture, the estate's grapes are grown as naturally as possible, without weedkillers, pesticides or other synthetic products. Only natural fertilizers, Bordeaux mixture and sulfur are used in the treatment of the vines.
Harvested manually, the grapes are then brought to the cellar for destemming and pressing. The wines are then accompanied as simply as possible, mainly by infusion, until bottling.
The wines of La Prevostura have a unique character and showcase incredible elegance and finesse. Lovers of Burgundy wines will find in these unsuspected regions a new passion, that of the wines of Lessona.
