The other vintages of:
Born in the middle of the vineyards, in Clapiers, north of Montpellier, Romain Portier signed his first lease in 2011, in the town of Saint-Jean-de-Fos. A small plot of old Mourvèdre, just 0.70 hectares. The first cuvée will therefore be called La Petite Parcelle.
At the same time, he obtained a professional license as an operations manager, learned his skills in wine estates of all sizes, and developed his expertise by working for nearly ten years in a cellar store in Montpellier.
In October 2017, Romain Portier is expanding his activity by acquiring 5 new plots
in the territories of Montpeyroux and Jonquières. He then decides to devote himself fully to the profession of winegrower. Its vines are cultivated organically, taking the time to observe nature, listen to it, and study it. He himself takes care of the vinification and aging, in order to produce sincere and expressive wines that embody, with joy and pride, the land that saw them be born and grow.
The estate is entirely worked in Organic Agriculture.
It is made up of 5 hectares and 6 grape varieties on 3 terroirs:
Saint-Jean-de-Fos: plot of old Mourvèdre (0.70 ha),
Montpeyroux: mourvèdre (0.30 ha),
Jonquières, an islet of 4 hectares: cinsault (1.50 ha), grenache noir (1.00 ha), syrah (0.75 ha),
Grenache Blanc and Marsanne (0.75 ha).
The work in the vineyard is entirely manual and without chemicals (one plot in conversion and the others Certified AB).
The cellar is a former wine shed at the entrance to the village of Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian, it is simple and functional, it consists of stainless steel and concrete tanks, a tapered tank and half-barrels for farms. Only low dose sulfur is used.
