The Vacheron family settled in the Sancerre region at the beginning of the 20th century and practised mixed farming on the estate's forty hectares of land. When Denis Vacheron and his brother started working on the family estate in 1966, the Vacheron estate had 3 hectares of vines and was already exporting part of its production to England and Hong Kong. The two winegrowers chose to develop the cultivation of grapes. They planted many vines and acquired numerous plots over the decades.
In 2010, the Vacheron estate owned nearly 50 hectares of vines. Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron, representatives of the next generation, came to assist Denis Vacheron in the 1990s. In 2004, the entire Vacheron estate was converted to biodynamic farming. Jean-Dominique Vacheron and his cousin Jean-Laurent have brought about a real cultural revolution in this family estate.
Certified biodynamic since 2006, it now produces no less than six parcel-based white wines. These variations, as legitimate as those made by climates in the Burgundy crus, remind us that Sancerre has a wide variety of clay soils of a remarkable level, half of which are flinty and half limestone. Let's mention the emblematic Les Romains, the first flint-dominant lieu-dit, isolated in 1997 in a vigorous and finely austere white; in 2010, it is a poor chalky soil, facing north, which is magnified in a chiselled and saline Sauvignon, Guigne-Chèvres.
The whites express their origins brilliantly and promise to make irresistible citrus flavours resonate on the palate. The reds have never reached such a level of finesse, softness of tannins and brilliance.
Floral and mineral, expressing the chalky and iodine character of the soil. A great Sauvignon wine!
Cherry, raspberry, smoky. Juicy, dense and tasty on the palate. Fresh length on the fruit and spices. Very natural expression of a tasty flesh!
